Demonstrations are planned in Paris and other parts of France this Saturday 8th December. They are expected to cause extensive disruption.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advises that some museums and tourist sites in central Paris will be closed, as a precautionary measure. Shops on the Champs Elysées and surrounding streets, as well as some Metro (underground) stations, will also be shut for business.
Recently, there have been multiple protests in France, largely led by the yellow vest (gilets jaunes) movement. Some have resulted in violence and extensive damage to property.
